The art gallery has had an update. Current work includes photography from year 6, painted fireworks from nursery, watercolours from year 2 and pencil work from year 5 and 4. Year 3 produced artwork as part of their family day visit to Cartwright Hall in Bradford.
We are delighted to announce that St John’s C E Primary School have raised a fantastic £2876 for the NSPCC. Years 1 to 6 took part in the sponsored fun run in the last week of half term. The children thoroughly enjoyed tackling the track that was set up on the field. Every child ran or walked at least 1 mile. All the children that took part should be very proud of what they have achieved individually and as a school. Also a big thank you to those who sponsored a child; your support is very much appreciated by the school and the NSPCC.
Enjoy the pictures.
Key stage 2 classes have been visited by the Google Expeditions team. Each class had thirty minutes to explore various locations as part of their topic work. Some classes went to the moon and others went deep into the Ocean. Each ‘tour’ was led by class teachers and children had the opportunity to look around the location using the virtual reality headsets (Google Cardboard) to found out more information. Although the visit was a one-off, the virtual expeditions have complimented the work done in history, geography and science.
Some of our year 5 and 6 digital leaders have been very excited this week when we took delivery of the new 3D printer. The children worked together (reading the manual carefully!) to set up the printer and have been experimenting with the different settings and options ever since.
What has been especially impressive is their determination to solve problems when things did not work first time or something was unclear. Working as a team they were able to get the printer up and running pretty quickly. They are now starting to explore the software that comes with the printer and will be ready to design their own 3D products in no time!
Digital leaders are exploring the possible use of the 3D printer for year 5 and 6 lessons. This year 3D printing and 3D modelling was used in history (Egyptians).
