Reception Go on a Bear Hunt @ Nell Bank

Catkin and Acorn had a wonderful time hunting for bears at the beginning of this half term.

We arrived at Nell Bank and all found ourselves a little bear to look after for the day before setting off around the grounds to search for any real bear clues!

After lunch, we looked for minibeasts and pond creatures before having lots of fun in the water area.

We had a great time and were very pleased that the sun shone for us on both days.

‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ at Bierley woods

As part of our topic on bear’s this half term, Nursery have been busy planning a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ at Bierley woods. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity for the children to observe the changes in the season.

A fun day was had by all but we had lots of tired children, staff and teddies afterwards!

Acorn’s Visit to Lister Park

After a week of bad weather, (and Catkin having to abandon their trip) the sun shone brightly enough for Acorn to visit Lister Park and look for signs of Autumn.

Everybody had a wonderful time. We saw so many different shades of red, yellow and brown and had lots of fun kicking and throwing the leaves that we found on the floor. We even spotted squirrels who were busy collecting food for their hibernation!

After a lovely walk, we found a little bit of time to explore the playground. It was a shame that we had to get back so soon for our lunch!

Bird Hide

Children in Key Stage 2 have been enjoying playing in the Bird Hide this year. This a lovely resource in the school grounds where children can go at break and lunch to see the wildlife in the area.
