Reception had another very exciting trip this week! This time we visited the Enchanted Forest at Stockeld Park.
The weather was beautiful and we had a wonderful time exploring the forest to search for characters from some of our favourite stories.
In the words of Ollie in Acorn, “It was just such a great day!”
In year 3 we have been learning about the different food groups in science, in design technology we are designing healthy pizzas and in literacy we are writing instructions.
Our school trip
When we got to school we did the register and sorted which minibuses we went on. Then the buses set off to Pizza Express. Then we washed our hands and started to make our Margarita pizza. The ingredients are:
- black peppers
The chef showed us how to stretch out the dough using flour and then place it in baking tin. We then spread on the passata and sprinkled on the cheese. We added flavour to our pizza by using oregano and black pepper.
While we washed are hands again the chef cooked our pizzas. Once they were finished we went back to school and ate our pizzas.

Year 3 and 4 have been visiting the local Yorkshire Water sites this week as part of the IPC unit – “Clean Water, Dirty Water”.
We started the day in Headingly, Leeds where we found out about the water cycle and how Yorkshire Water clean water ready to be sent into our homes. In the afternoon we moved to another site where we found out what happened to the dirty water that came out of our homes.
We talked about lots of ways we can help save water or keep our drains and sewers clean.
On Monday 29th April Year five and Year 6 went down to the hall in groups of 8-9 with two lades called Jackie and Asha.
We learnt all about how to catch a suspect, first Jackie showed us how to find and record somebodies hand print on a sheet of paper with sweat and magnetic powder. We put are hands on the paper and pressed down then lifted are hands up, we then got the wand /magnet and brush some magnetic powder on the paper and it showed our hand print.
Next we did the finger prints, we did the same thing as the hand print. Did you know that you have these shapes in your hand; arch, worhl and tentend arch. Next we did the hair and clothes. I pulled a hair out and put it on the crystal tab. When you zoom in it looks like a worm!
The day was really interesting and very exciting. We really enjoying dressing in the white lab coats!
